DAY 60 “HISTORY OF JAPAN” ’80DAYS’ Round the World Travel Series with Paul G Roberts

It’s DAY 60 and Roberts has made his way to Japan. A country he has visited 3 times before.
It’s one of his favourite places to travel to, and its history and origin story is fascinating.

The culture of Ancient Japan was built on the ideals of order, harmony, and self-improvement.
While these core values guided the early history of Japan, they remain key factors in the success of modern-day Japan. The Land of the Rising Sun is steeped in honor and tradition but has not been without its contradictions.

The Ancient Japanese sought order and decorum, but they believed the mythology that the land arose from chaos. Peace, harmony, and Zen are emphasized; however, Ancient Japan was defended by legendary Samurai and Shogun warriors.

Japan had a strict social hierarchy and unwritten social rules dictating interactions between people of different classes, yet rulers in ancient Japan were given autonomous control over their regions. These contrasts are the reason Japan remains one of the most complex societies in the world.

Out of chaos came order, according to the Ancient Japanese creation myths. When the land separated from the ocean, seven pairs of deities – gods and goddesses – emerged to create the seven thousand-plus islands of the Japanese archipelago. The seas kept the islands somewhat isolated from mainland Asia, and the mountainous terrain made many areas inaccessible.

This solo one man odyssey, was crafted in the shadow of Jules Verne’s immortal prose ‘Around the World in 80 Days’, but more than a nod to literary genius—it is an homage to the insatiable human thirst for discovery.

A thirst some poetically inclined termed ‘Wanderlust’.

In my grand narrative of no less than 80 episodes, the world unfolds as a tapestry of cultures and wonders, we are reminded that the true wealth of life is not in the jingle of coins or the accolades of society. It is in the bonds we forge, the love that we kindle amidst the whirlwind of our pursuits.

To those who would call my quest a folly, I say: life’s tapestry is woven with threads of experiences, not the gold of coins. For travel is the grand tutor of life’s lessons, unfurling the scrolls of the world before our eager eyes. And as I often say, a solitary day ablaze with adventure can outshine years of monochrome routine.

This, my friends, is the essence of my ‘80DAYS’—not merely a series of films, but a celebration of life in its most vivid form.

I will be releasing 2 new film episodes each week. There is so much more to follow. Subscribe to “YouTube FashionIndustryBroadcast” so you will not miss being notified of each drop. And if you feel it LIKE and COMMENT too.

Humbly yours in Wanderlust,

Paul G Roberts
