Calling all music lovers- check out what Victoria’s made of. The Bank of Melbourne have recently announced the finalists of the 3rd Melbourne Music Bank competition.

Melbourne Music Bank asked Victorian bands, musicians, singers and songwriters to submit an original song for the chance to win more than $60,000 in prizes. A slew of applications from talented song writers have certainly created intense competition between finalists of who will receive the top prize. A record number of 540  submissions have been condensed to 12 finalists that showcase talent from all over Victoria in hip hop, alt-country, folk, rap, rock, pop, garage and soul.
The finalists were: Sal Wonder from Brunswick, Anna Oliphant Wright from Lake Gardens, Ayyoob Meeragani from Fawkner, B Cardamone from Richmond, Batz from Collingwood, Birdhouse from Caulfield, BLOOM from McCrae, HeavyHeads from Balaclava, James Franklin from Dandenong, Sienna Wild from South Melbourne,Tempus Sun from Moonee Ponds and Zii Music from Fawkner.
Now, it’s in the publics hands. Until 9 October, the public is invited to vote for their favourite entry and the four entries with the most overall votes will battle it out at the Arts Centre Melbourne’s Hammer Hall on 25 October, where a panel of industry experts will determine and crown the winner.
Supported by highly reputed industry heavyweights Pandora, Beat Magazine, Tone Deaf and Music Feeds, the winner of Melbourne Music Bank this year will receive an ultimate toolkit to kickstart their career: recording time at Melbourne’s The Studios in The City, management and mentoring, publicity, radio plugging and gig bookings. The winner will even have the opportunity to perform at Beyond The Valley festival.
