Born in Los Angeles, Angelina Jolie is the daughter of actors Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand. After her parents’ separation in 1976, Jolie and her brother were raised by their mother. As a child, Jolie regularly saw movies with her mother that inspired her interest in acting on the silver screen and not being the influence of her father.

Though she made her screen debut as a child in one of her father’s pictures, her first adult role was in the low-budget production Cyborg (1993). In 1995, she gained her first leading role in the cyber thiller Hackers (1995).
She continued her success by starring in the critically acclaimed Gia (1998) that earned her a Golden Globe Award and in the drama Girl, Interrupted (1999), where she received an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.

In 2011, Jolie started to work behind the camera in the director’s seat with her debut film; In The Land of Blood and Honey. She continued with in Unbroken (2014) and directed and starred alongside her husband, in the drama By The Sea (2015). She is set to star and direct the Netflix drama First They Killed My Father.

Despite her gorgeous exterior, Jolie continues to prove herself as a confident, intelligent and multi-talented woman with her list of acting performances, her ability behind the camera and her continued dedication to humanitarian issues.
