Top Dawg Entertainment announced SiR earlier this year as the newest signee to the music label that is home to industry heavyweights Kendrick Lamar and Schoolboy Q.
SiR has now released his first E.P. with the label as TDE’s first undertaking of 2017. The 6 track E.P. is titled Her Too and is a follow up to SiR’s October 2016 release Her.
SiR is a burgeoning name in the industry with his combination of hip-hop and RnB styles. He creates smooth and mellow beats as staging for his lyrical talent and mellifluous vocals. Her Too is a charming production that takes on a late night atmosphere but is also perfect to vibe to on a Sunday morning.
In an interview with XXL Mag the 29-year-old, California native described the E.P. as
“similar to the first one but it has a slightly darker twist to it.”
The E.P. features an impressive cast that includes Anderson .Paak, King Mez and Masego, as well as boasting productions from Andre Harris, Cardiak, D.K. The Punisher and J. LBS.
SiR has already established himself in the music industry for almost 10 years before gaining attention from TDE in 2015, when he worked with Jay Rock on his album 90059. His long-spanning career as a singer-songwriter has seen him working with industry icons including Tyrese, Jill Scott, Robert Glasper and Bilal.
He has attributed much of this earlier success to his sound engineering training. In an interview with Fact Mag he said
“For me it’s necessary…My technical side helps so much. If someone has a thought or idea they want to get out. I can make it happen. I can open up a DAW and work. I like to bring that to the situation, it makes everyone feel more at ease, even the engineer.”
SiR has also said that there is another album in the works, following this E.P. Fans will be hoping that a new album from SiR will include guest appearances from other prominent TDE artists.
