The creators of the new It remake aren’t clowning around with the first official trailer for the much loved horror film adaptation. The trailer was so anticipated that it broke the record for most views in a 24-hour period. Will this movie be the one that kick-starts the rise of the horror genre?
The cinematic remake has fans of the original novel by Stephen King excited for the September 7 release. Earlier this week, the world got a sneak peak at the trailer and poster for the horror classic, directed by Andrés Muschietti.
It’s been twenty-seven years since we saw the first adaptation for King’s novel. The mini-series proved to be successful with fans of classic horror- but the adaptation is going one step further. It’s taking the infamous Pennywise to the big screen with a feature length version of one of King’s most known. Will the modern version take the cake as best adaptation or will the original remain as the audience’s favourite?
The teaser opens up almost exactly like the original… It’s a rainy day in the town of Derry and Pennywise lures a little boy to a stormwater drain after his paper boat floats down it. The trailer quickly follows the creation of the Losers’ Club; a group consisting of the little boys brother, William Denbrough, and his friends. They make it their mission to get to the bottom of Denbrough’s brother’s disappearance as more children begin vanishing.
The trailer has everything that makes creepy seem great: dark sewers, haunted houses and possessed tech (what was going on with that projector?). We’re not even going to talk about that head popping out of the water.
