BROCKHAMPTON – Gold

“Gold” is a fun track brimming with casual confidence, the lyrics and video laced with the familiar cheeky sass of the Texan native group BROCKHAMPTON. Fronted by Kevin Abstract, they announced the release of their second mixtape titled Saturation in June of this year. The group, who released their first mixtape All-American Trash in March 2016, is made up of established rapper Kevin Abstract and Dom McLennon, Bearface, Matt Champion, JOBA, Ameer Vann, Merlyn Wood, Rodney Tenor and Romil Hemnani. The group released the more intense songs “Cannon”, “Face” and “Heat” earlier this year, which are expected to be on the mixtape, making “Gold” its fourth single.

Smith Street Band – Shine

Australian rock favourites Smith Street Band paid tribute to legendary Australian rockers AC/DC in their new video clip for the song “Shine.” Alike to AC/DC’s iconic “A Long Way To The Top” video clip, the Smith Street Band ride atop a truck through Melbourne, eventually being sweetly rewarded with a beer from a local restaurant owner. “Shine” is from their most recent album More Scared of You Than You Are of Me. Singles from the album have enjoyed a lengthy rotation on Triple J who have strongly supported the rise in popularity of the Melbourne locals, which brought them to their largest performance last Friday night at the Enmore in Sydney.

Teyana Taylor ft. Migos – Drippin

Teyana Taylor is not unfamiliar to stunning, highly sexualised video clips (Kanye West’s video for “Fade” anyone?) and she shows it in this video for her song “Drippin.” Completely naked except for her fluorescent paint covering, Teyana Taylor moves with conviction as she entertains sultry, erotic lyrics. The release of the track comes as she has taken a moment away from her music career to focus on her fitness program “Fade2Fit” as well as her acting role in the VH1 television series The Breaks. “Drippin” appears to be a nod to the release of a possible second project following the release of her debut album VII back in 2014.

Snoop Dogg ft. Redman, Method Man, & B-Real – Mount Kushmore

Last week Snoop Dogg released his newest album Neva Left and while the veteran rapper shows that he still has bars to give he continues to rely on timeworn content. Snoop Dogg is, big shocker, still smoking a lot of weed, just in case you were wondering, this classic image of him on full display in the video for “Mount Kushmore”. The video uses tiresome weed tropes with a detonator set to 4:20 (get it?), as well as countless shots, slipped in there of women shaking their boobs and booties. The animated video is still pretty fun, opening with President Trump perplexedly finding Mount Rushmore transformed into the faces of the rappers and trashed with used condoms, hoop earrings, and chicken bones.
