Brit indie-pop luminaries London Grammar have released the video for ‘Non Believer’, the latest track off their sophomore album Truth is a Beautiful Thing to be given the cinematic treatment.
‘Non-Believer’ is a slow-moving yet uplifting ballad built in the typical London Grammar style, yet this video mirrors the multi-dimensionality inherent in their repertoire.
Directed by Jodeb, the cinematic, psychedelic sojourn stars Karelle Tremblay – a rising Canadian actress best known for her role in Our Loved Ones (2015). Tremblay portrays a morally ambiguous character as Jodeb explains,
“We wanted to create a character that you would never really know if she is a good or ill-intentioned person… I was looking to create a subtle sense of paranoia all throughout the film.”
The filmic adaptation of ‘Non Believer’ follows Tremblay as she navigates a potentially post-apocalyptic landscape before travelling trans-dimensionally through psychedelic realms. Jodeb certainly delivered with his intended character. A multitude of YouTube commentators practiced their conspiratorial detective skills, discussing whether the protagonist is descending to her death following a nasty breakup and/or homicide. Hey, who said film clips had to make sense, right?
Whatever the intention, we’re left with an urgent desire to book a ticket to this otherworldly skydive.
London Grammar‘s critically acclaimed album Truth is a Beautiful Thing topped charts and even reached gold status in the UK. Coming off the back of a hectic summer schedule (playing Lollapalooza and Glastonbury), the trio are set to grace Aussie shores for a headline tour later this month.
