Over the last few years, technology has made some enhancements from self-serve checkouts at the supermarkets, and allocating a seat at the movies, to Uber Eats to avoid human interaction.
Now there is a new development where you can pay someone to be a “human Uber” to live your life for you.
This is not a joke.
Japanese researcher Jun Rekimoto has developed a new tech, called ChameleonMask; a particular screen strapped to a person’s face and aims at allowing someone – a “surrogate” – to live your life for you, wearing your clothes and behaving on your instruction.
You’ll be able to pay someone to go about your life while you chill at home, and use its camera to communicate with people your surrogate meets.
The concept of a “human Uber” sounds preposterous. This technology is an excellent example that we as a society are lacking human interaction and becoming too dependent on electronic devices such as phones to communicate with one another.
It seems the masterminds behind the ever-hyperbolic ‘social technology’ have taken a step in the only anti-social direction they know how – assuming that people are now too lazy to leave their house to even physically meet their friends, so why not provide a “surrogate” hire service to live their life and behave like them, instead?
Don’t you think it’s a better idea to save your money, get out of the house and have a night out? I don’t think fresh air and socialising ever killed anybody.
What do you think about Human Uber living your life for you?
