GUCCI CRUISE RUNWAY SHOW 2019 / ANATOMY OF A FASHION SHOW

Fashion Industry Broadcast continues its popular ‘Anatomy of a Fashion Show’ Series, this time our film teams go an ancient Roman cemetery that was set on fire for the 2019 Gucci Cruise Show.

Opting for yet another unconventional runway setting, the Italian fashion house staged its latest show at the Promenade Des Alyscamps in Arles—an ancient Roman cemetery that was lit up by candelabras and actual fire lining the runway. For the collection, creative director Alessandro Michele was “fascinated by the idea of death,” and really who isn’t in the Year of Our Lord 2018?

A fashionable destination in the 1700s, it served as the location where, in 1888, Vincent van Gogh and Paul Gauguin painted side by side. As a UNESCO World Heritage site, Alyscamps – which means the Elysian Fields – is now a museum, famous for the gothic rock‘n’roll soul Michele drew on in his show.
