Copenhagen Fashion Week came to a close last week, with ample lust-worthy pieces for Spring/Summer 2019. In lieu of having the privilege of experiencing one of Europe’s most envied fashion weeks, FIB provides our top picks of the collections.Â
CFW x Boozt
Playing on this year’s theme of streetwear style and nostalgia, Copenhagen Fashion Week and Boozt curated the show ‘CFW x Boozt’, that incorporated ready-to-wear pieces from both designers. The show delivered a generous dose of tried-and-true elements: nostalgic, androgynous and oversized.
Holzweiler
Holzweiler’s take on Spring/Summer this year plays with the idea of the chic explorer, described as ‘the uniform for the fjord bourgeoisie‘. Having only launched clothing into their brand in 2014, the collection glows, combining layered gingham, striped silks, and earthy overcoats. We also see a running pop of neon-orange throughout the line, and appearances of the now-ubiquitous bum bag.
Cecilie BahnsenÂ
Based in Copenhagen, Denmark, Cecilie Bahnsen‘s handcrafted collections focus on intricate detailing and unique silhouettes. The dreamy, architectural feminine pieces of this season remain consistent with the brand’s previous collections, yet hint at the streetwear vibe of CFW by incorporating chunky black sandals. Cecilie Bahnsen’s SS19 collection compliments the casual and cool Danish spring.
Heliot Emil
“Florals for spring, how ground-breaking”- how about monochrome and industrial? Heliot Emil’s Spring Summer collection was anything but predictable, rising up to the high expectations for the designer. The bold, seductive pieces proved Heliot Emil is capable of rocking traditions (as anticipated) for Spring and Summer with radical uses of fur, asymmetric windbreakers, and carabineers.
Ganni
A personal favourite of mine was Ganni’s show. The show exudes adventure with botanical themes, the perfect mix of practical and playful. The palette of animal prints, silk, and mesh make it hard to know where to leave the eye. Ditte Reffstrup’s vision for this collection is palpable, and, as covered by Vogue, gives us an insight into her upbringing in Denmark. The brand also explicitly mentions their CSR and environmental sustainability, holding a Climate Certificate 2018 and placing a strong emphasis on minimising their environmental footprint.
