The Star was Born and she’s back again to depict the historical Bad Romance that had Paparazzi and the world Speechless and enthralled at the melodrama of one of the most Beautiful, Dirt, Rich elite families.
Too many Gaga references there? Ok, toning the fan-girl vibes down now.
Lady Gaga, who made her Oscar-worthy debut in A Star is Born, has just been casted to play Patricia Reggiani in Ridley Scott’s new film chronicling the murder of Mauirzio Gucci.
It’s hard not to share excitement considering the sheer beauty of a collaboration between Ridley Scott and Lady Gaga, particularly given the subject matter they’ll be depicting.
While there aren’t many details about the film as of yet, we do know that Gaga is set to play Reggiani, who was Maurizio’s ex-wife.
If you’re unfamiliar with the Gucci scandal, then here’s a brief overview. Maurizio, of whom was the head of the Italian fashion house, was murdered in 1995 exactly 10 years after leaving his wife Patricia Reggiani for a younger woman.
The scorned lover then hired a hit-man to assassinate her ex-husband, which is how she was dubbed the Black Widow by the media following a very sensationalised trial.
Despite the fact that Reggiani’s daughter claimed that a previous brain tumour had affected her personality, she was sentenced to 26 years in prison but only served 18 years in prison as she was later released in 2016 on good behaviour.
The film’s script was written by Roberto Bentivegna, and was based on Sara Gay Forden’s true crime book, The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour and Greed.
The film’s production had been stalled for almost a decade, with Angelina Jolie previously signing on to play Reggiani. Now, we’re finally getting some production movement.
Filiming is set to begin right after Scott finishes production on the historical drama, The Last Duel.
I know what you’re thinking, it’s got major badass vibes. Aside from the fact that she has a nickname like Black Widow, she also orchestrated a whole stunt just to get back at her ex for leaving her for a younger woman.
It’s got scandal, it’s got drama, intrigue, high fashion, and it’s also got Lady Gaga’s face. Aside from the fact that it’s based on a very true and horrific story about a fashion industry giant that was murdered- this scandal had all the hallmark qualities for a scandalous melodrama series.
Or an incredible Ridley Scott film.
Just to be clear here, I’m not saying you should hire a hit-man to assassinate your ex. Murder is NOT the way, people.
But while we wait in anticipation for more details on the film, we can picture Gaga in costume while Shallow plays in the background.
