Teenage activist Greta Thunberg has described her first meeting with David Attenborough as “indescribable”.

It is not everyday that two iconic faces from the fight against climate change come together. However, this collaboration is not unexpected. David Attenborough is featuring in Greta Thunberg’s new BBC Documentary, titled A Year to Change the World.

The three part documentary will show how the Swedish teenager entered the world stage after skipping school for her one-person climate strike. It then continues on with her journey to her voyage from Europe to America while stopping along the way to examine the impact of climate change on the globe.

During an interview on the Radio 1 Breakfast Show, the 18-year-old spoke of her respect for David.

“He’s done so much in his life, he has so many stories to share.

“Maybe the thing that I admire most with him is that even though he may be a certain age, he still is keeping his mind very open and he has started speaking up.

“He has really started to speak up more than he did before and I think that’s really admirable and that’s something that we should all strive to be like.”

Greta Thunberg begun solo campaigning at just 15. Unlike the restricted speech of a politician, Greta is not afraid to hit out at world leaders for not playing their part against rising temperatures.

An iconic moment was captured in 2019 at a climate change meeting in New York. Cameras caught Greta glaring at President Trump, who had pulled the US out of the Paris Agreement, a legally binding treaty on climate change.

The three episode BBC Documentary will air between April 28th and May 12th.
