Ten years ago, Lady Gaga released ‘Born This Way’. This year, Gaga and Versace celebrate pride and the 10th Anniversary with a colourful capsule collection.
To celebrate Pride and the tenth anniversary of mega-hit ‘Born This Way’, Gaga and Donatella Versace have collaborated for a special edition capsule collection.
This collection will benefit the ‘Born This Way’ foundation; the singer’s charity dedicated to mental health support for LGBTQIA and youth communities.
Rainbow Pride
On June 1, the limited edition t-shirt emblazoned with the brand’s logo and a limited edition beret were listed for sale on the Versace website.
A portion of the proceeds from the sale of these two items will be donated to Lady Gaga’s foundation. The tees and matching berets, featuring rainbow shades and Versace’s iconic Medusa logo, are available now on Versace.
During 2011’s ‘Born This Way’ tour, Gaga commissioned a leather, embellished jacket with metal, mesh, golden trims and buckles. It has been remade for the purpose of a fundraising auction. It represents an updated replica of the famed tour jacket. This new version took 400 hours to make by hand in Versace’s Milan atelier. The proceeds from the sale of the jacket will serve as a donation to the Foundation.
Rainbow Berets
Donatella and Gaga are eager to share their excitement over their joint project. Gaga explained via an Instagram post that,
“Versace has always been a leader. Since Gianni, Donatella, Allegra, and still now, they have celebrated the beautiful colours of love we have within us.”
Gaga is depicted posing in the shirt and rainbow beret with Donatella.
Donatella’s response was similarly upbeat,
“Gaga and her foundation are so inspiring,” the designer wrote in a statement. “Our friendship and our efforts to promote equality, diversity, and inclusion have only become stronger with time.”
