TikTok has collaborated with SiriusXM to release their very own radio station. Advertised as “a radio version of the platform’s ‘For You’ feed”, it features the top trending songs of TikTok each week as well as some interviews with popular musical creators.
The music portion of the TikTok app has had a direct impact on the operation of the music industry, allowing for new and forgotten songs alike to find an audience. These include Fleetwood Mac’s “Dreams”, which returned to the top 10 Billboard charts in 2020. Even a lo-fi remix of the cartoon Steven Universe has become a treasured sound on the app. Small content creators have also been able to kickstart their music careers like never before.
“We’re so excited to launch TikTok Radio on SiriusXM, which opens up artists and creators like this amazing group of hosts to new audiences. Now SiriusXM subscribers will have a new road to discover the latest trends in music and get a first listen to tomorrow’s musical superstars. The channel captures song-breaking music culture that creates so much joy and entertainment on TikTok through video in an all-audio format.”
Ole Obermann, TikTok’s global head of Music
DJ Habibeats (@djhabibeats) and DJ CONST (@erinconstantineofficial) will go live on TikTok each week while DJing on the radio show. Other creators involved with the program include Billy (@8illy), Cat Haley (@itscathaley), HINDZ (@hindzsight), Lamar Dawson (@dirrtykingofpop) and Taylor Cassidy (@taylorcassidyj).
During the radio show’s first week, artists Lil Nas X, Normani, and Ed Sheeran will appear.
