The Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard trial has been televised, shared and commented on worldwide. After 6 weeks of often ridiculed live court footage, the plaintiff and defence have rested their cases. But not with the absence of an abundance of mockery.
It’s impossible for anyone to have missed the courtroom drama that fronted our social media. From what seemed a daily circus-like atmosphere, with subjects of private jets, severed fingers, megapints, dogs stepping on bees and turds, it was hard to take the case seriously.
However, the point of the defamation case exposed important no laughing-matters. You can read more about the purpose of the case in the Washington Post article.
For the purpose of this article, FIB takes a look at the moments that have turned to parody by some pretty creative minds.

Youtuber, Mojahed Fudailat is all over the animated videos and he made the Depp/Heard trial a fairly laughable sequence of events. With over 182k views on one particular video titled “Johnny Depp shocked by psychiatrist behaviour” Mojahed has established a crazy amount of fans. Many of whom hail his ability to produce ‘epic comedy’.
Viral TikTok
The trial between Hollywood’s biggest stars, Johnny Depp and Amber Heard has not only become one of the most popular topics on the internet. Since the beginning, it has dominated the FYP of many TikTok users. TikTok Stars on Youtube has an entire 10 part series named ‘Best of TikTok: Johnny Depp and Amber Heard trial’. This features a montage of videos created by TikTokers worldwide. Many have reenacted the case using filters and bringing their dogs into the spotlight to cover the viral moment Heard said “my dog stepped on a bee”.Â
The entire court proceeding has been streamed for free on the internet for millions to watch. So, it’s no real surprise that plenty of personalities have taken the opportunity to express their creative side in reference to the high-profile case, even if it’s a little strange or indeed very strange.
Some creators including @pettyparrot took an opportunity from the “absurdity” of the trial to create animations. The professional illustrator had 50 followers prior to her creations, now she sits at a whopping 108,000. One of her videos attracted 13.9 million views and continues to rise. This led her to join the TikTok Creator Fund where her videos are now paid for per view.
The Backlash
The whole thing has attracted an overwhelming amount of attention. Most of which has been for the sole purpose of ridiculing the trial. But critics have said they’re disgusted by how callously audiences are treating the case. Saturday Night Live (SNL) in particular faced backlash after the show released a sketch that appeared to make light of the ongoing defamation case.
One tweeter stated the SNL sketch is “a perfect example of how this case is treated like entertainment and not a domestic violence case”.Â
Although, this hasn’t stopped people from sharing links, watching videos by the millions, and creating parodies. Ultimately, tumbling further into the rabbit hole of remixed footage.
