Straight off the back of a New York Movie Awards win for 80DAYS – MY NYC, this time Paul G Roberts lands in London from Sydney to retrace the footsteps of legendary “Around the World in 80 Days” adventurer fame Phileas Fogg. It is DAY 8 of his 80DAYS, after some research on what London was like in Fogg’s days in 1872, at the height of the British Empire, he makes a beeline for the famous Reform Club in Mayfair where the epic adventure starts, with Phileas Fogg making a wager with his member friends that he can indeed circumnavigate the globe and get back to London in just 80 days.

This time in 80DAYS, Roberts investigates what life was like for the aristocracy and working people back in the Victorian Age. Before setting off on his own quest of “80DAYS” following the around the world journey that Phileas Fogg took.
Jules Verne’s most famous book “Around the World in Eighty Days” set the Victorian world alight in 1872; an adventure novel with grand dreams of circumnavigating the known world in less than three months. And as well as the book, “Around the World in 80 Days” has been made into countless numbers of films and television series.
The 1956 film version won 5 Oscars including Best Picture. The film starred David Niven, Cantinflas, Shirley MacLaine, Robert Newton, and an All-Star Cast of cameo actors. Jules Verne’s original story “Around the World in 80 Days” romanticised the glory days of the British Empire, when it was ‘The Raj’ in India, ‘manservants’ and butlers.

Making an Award winning film is no small feat. Usually it takes a great story, a team of highly skilled artisans. Writers, producers, a great director, editors, actors and usually a pile of money.
And even then it takes a decent amount of luck and a lot of dedication for it to realise the promise it had on paper. There are a million things that can derail the project. The degree of difficulty is amplified many times over when it has ambitions to become a series. But for one person to attempt to all of this solo, is for most experts just insanity.
