It seems to be a busy year for The Hobbit’s Richard Armitage. Not even finished with the famous villain Francis Dolarhyde for TV series Hannibal and he has already started working on his next project, Pilgrimage.

Set in the 13th century, the film follows a group of monks on a perilous journey to deliver a holy relic in Rome, testing their faith.

Armitage tweeted that his character will speak French during a Q&A promoting The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies last year, and earlier this week he posted a sneak peek on Weibo (China’s version of Facebook) with the caption:

“Started work on my next role. Look out for a press release. I hope China gets this one, I think you’ll enjoy it. 朝圣.”

Pilgrimage is set to start filming next month in Ireland and Belgium for seven weeks with Brendan Muldowney in the director’s seat. The Walking Dead and Fury’s Jon Bernthal and Wolf Hall’s Tom Holland have also joined the cast.

The release date is yet to be announced, but judging by the plotline and casting, Pilgrimage sounds promising.
