Hocus Pocus (1993)

For lovers of the not-so-scary, this cult classic centres on three witches returning to the world of the living and seek immortality. There’s only one obstacle: three teenagers and a cursed black cat are in their way. Sit back and enjoy the comedic performances with a touch of magic.

Psycho (1960)

The film that made a genre out of slashers and a cinematic masterpiece. Hitchcock managed to put the horror in the normal. One night, Marion Crane (Janet Leigh) stays at an isolated motel and cross paths with its owner Norman Bates who sends chills down your spine. Feast your eyes on this classic or hide behind a couch if you need to. This one is for those who love thrills.

The Shining (1980)

Based on Stephen King’s bestseller and a famous Kubrick film, The Shining follows the Torrances moving into The Overlook, a large hotel in a secluded area. Soon the ghostly residents of the Overlook play with winter caretaker and struggling writer Jack Torrance (Jack Nicholson) and use his short temper to their advantage. They send him on a frenzied mission to kill his wife and psychic son Danny. With stunning cinematography and chilling suspense, this film will make your spooky night.

Dracula (1931)

For lovers of the more older horror classics, this film starring Bela Lugosi as the titled character is haunting thanks to lighting and eerie-and-not-so-subtle music. Dracula journeys to a new home for new blood but faces an obstacle in the form of a group of men including the famous Van Helsing trying to stop his terror. Sleepy Hollow (1999)

Halloween isn’t complete without a Tim Burton movie. Ichabod Crane (Johnny Depp) is summoned to investigate gruesome murders in a town called Sleepy Hollow which is plagued by a headless horseman. Elegantly spooky with twists, this film will make your head roll.

Night of the Living Dead (1968)

Not a fan of spooky comedy, gothic romance, slasher, haunted houses or sophisticated blood drinkers, but part of the zombie crowd? Night of the Living Dead is hauntingly perfect and a milestone in zombie history. The film centres on Ben and Barbra who become trapped by the living dead. Bar your houses and watch this masterpiece, and have a happy Halloween!
