The Universe Awakens Once Again

Stars Wars is well known for being a classic and favoured friend to the youth of prior generations. Yet after episodes 1-3, I have always believed it to be a series on the decline. Can a film series on the decline truly deliver what the dedicated fans want? Or has Disney revived a monster.

After ten long years Star Wars has made an explosive revival at the Los Angeles Premiere which took place December 15th. For the most highly anticipated event of the year it is no surprise that the guest list was in the thousands, from raving fans to popular celebrities and even Star Wars newbies. Beloved stars not even related to the series made a splash, Joseph Gordon Levitt as Yoda, Sofia Vegara with her hair made Leia style and Rainn Wilson as Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Of course their attendance was minor compared to the star wars icons everyone had come to see. Harrison Ford, Carrie Fischer, Mark Hamill and George Lucas were received with great applause. Star Wars newcomers Daisy Ridley and John Boyega were also welcomed with open arms.
Yet for all the hype over the film, there is a question that needs to be asked. Does it deliver? Will the star wars fans be appeased or will Disney be holding back an angry mob? The twitterverse erupted with comments and I sighed with relief at all the praise.

Hunger Games star Elizabeth Banks stated

“#StarWarsForceAwakens totally delivers #nospoilers I repeat #nospoilers again #nospoilers just #wow,”

“Cried like a baby, whooped like a teen! #StarWarsForceAwakens,” – Rob Lowe.

All the approval I saw had my curiosity pumping, what could such a hyped and fantastic movie be about. No spoilers alert, the good folks on twitter were surprisingly close lipped about the plot. “Everything I could possibly say about #StarWars #TheForceAwakens is a spoiler, so I will say that it’s super fun and beautifully shot!” – Teri Schwartz. I had hoped for some crumbs but I am to be denied even them. There’s nothing more I can do but see the film itself and lose myself in a world of lightsabres and Sith lords.
