Indiana Jones 5, Not So Much Hype About It

Disney has confirmed it, Indiana Jones will be returning to the big screens. This new film will mark the fifth addition to the acclaimed blockbuster franchise and it will see Harrison Ford reprising the role of Dr Henry Jones, a.k.a ‘Indiana Jones’.

Steven Spielberg, the acclaimed director of all the films prior, will also be donning his directorial cap for the fifth installment which is still without an official title. Franchise creator George Lucas, who produced all of the previous films will not be associated with the project. The film will be produced by Husband and Wife pair Frank Marshall and Kathleen Kennedy who also produced the prior Indy films. Still, it is not Lucas’s absence that has fans concerned.

Steven Spielberg has signed on David Koepp to write the screenplay. For those unfamiliar with Koepp, he was the man who wrote the script to Crystal Skull. CS was a movie that had its share of haters and with Koepp in the writing chair;(to put it lightly) fans are left concerned that Jones 5 will not explore any new ground.

“Indiana Jones is one of the greatest heroes in cinematic history, and we can’t wait to bring him back to the screen in 2019,” Said Disney chairman Alan Horn “It’s rare to have such a perfect combination of director, producers, actor and role, and we couldn’t be more excited to embark on this adventure with Harrison and Steven.”

Among fans some are concerned that recasting Ford was not the best choice. Many believe the franchise would be better served with a younger actor so that Disney might have an opportunity to renew the series with the same success as Star Wars.

The film is due for release on July 19, 2019 so there is a long wait ahead of us and while no plot details have been scattered Kennedy has hinted that some young stars will appear alongside Ford. Details on who however are still annoyingly vague.
