Warner Brothers productions, kind hearted people that they are, don’t want to leave you in the dark anymore. They’re offering up some answers in the latest installment in the Conjuring universe, Annabelle: Creation. If you need a list of names to blame for this nightmare-inducing film we’re happy to oblige.  The director of the film David F. Sandberg, has forced you to return to the comfort of night-lights through his previous work on films like Lights Out (2016) and See You Soon. The screenplay has been penned by Gary Dauberman, who’s devoted to the creepy as hell doll and is the same name behind the writing of the first Annabelle film. Rounding up the terrifying trio, is James Wan a name previously taken in conjunction with both Conjuring films, as well as several of the Saw movies.

The sinister cast in front of the camera boasts a few familiar names like Stephanie Sigman (Spectre), Talitha Bateman (The 5th Wave), Lulu Wilson (Deliver Us from Evil), Philippa Anne Coulthard (After the Dark) and Miranda Otto (Homeland, The Lord of the Rings Trilogy) with newcomer Tayler Buck set to terrify us.

The iconic doll that makes us want to have a tea party with Chucky first appeared in the Conjuring series and though we never really wanted to know, this film provides a back story of her obviously tragic origin. The official synopsis of the film reads:

Several years after the tragic death of their little girl, a dollmaker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home, soon becoming the target of the dollmaker’s possessed creation, Annabelle.

For those brave enough to follow the Conjuring universe timeline. Here’s putting the film in place, Annabelle: Creation, is a prequel to 2014’s Annabelle which in turn was a prequel to the 2013 hit The Conjuring.

The origin story is set to infiltrate theaters on Aug. 11 2017. Just in case you weren’t freaked out enough by the teaser, released in the fall of last year, here’s a deeper look through the official trailer for the latest excuse for night terrors.
