The Official Teaser Trailer for ‘The Crimes of Grindelwald’ Just Dropped and Yep, Dumbledore’s Hot Now

Yesterday the official teaser trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald dropped. The movie is set to be released on the 16th of November this year, and it’s been written by J.K. Rowling herself, so you know it’s legit.

Warner Brothers have done the old Benjamin Button trick and revealed to us that the old crotchety Dumbledore we know and love, is now young and hot and Jude Law-like. You can tell that they were really excited about this announcement, because they really milk the intro. A series of mysterious back shots and no face while a voice over teases, “and what do you have to say for yourself…” insert loooong pause, “….Dumbledore” and then they show us his face. Boom. Revealed. Dumbledore, but not as you know him.

Despite the character’s name being in the title of the movie, we only see Johnny Depp’s Grindelwald for a second and he looks like this:

Wouldn’t say it’s the best look.

It is, however, a loaded image. Just as we see this image, we hear Dumbledore telling Newt that he, one of the most powerful wizards in the world, won’t be fighting Grindelwald, but instead he will entrust this responsibility to Newt, a man who can’t keep his animals under control for more than an hour. As this is basically nonsensical, I’m guessing that Dumbledore’s romantic feelings for Grindelwald are getting in the way of the pair having a good old fashioned Wizard throw down. We know from the Harry Potter series that this will eventually happen, but I think this trailer is telling us that Dumbledore’s gonna have a bit of an angsty time getting to it.

If they are delving into Dumbledore and Grindelwald’s troubled relationship, then it’s definitely fitting that Johnny Depp’s the problematic love interest, considering his domestic violence lawsuit with Amber Rose and Grindelwald being a big evil wizard and all that.

You can watch the trailer yourself below and get hyped that the Harry Potter universe ain’t going away for at least another 3 movies.
