First episodes of Netflix’s new 7 Days Out docu-series, a series documenting visionary in a variety of fields including fashion, film, entertainment, sports, space, and more, are being released on the streaming service.
Chanel’s SS18 Couture show is the subject of the first episode of 7 Days Out. This docuseries captures the excitement and drama that play out behind the scenes in the days leading up to major live events like the Chanel Show, the Kentucky Derby, etc.
The Chanel documentary will be directed by Andrew Rossi – who has previously given a behind the scenes look at the Met Gala in his film The First Monday in May which covered the Met Gala’s most-attended exhibit in history, “China Through the Looking Glass.” – and will follow Karl Lagerfeld as he makes preparations in the last week before the spring show.
Netflix seems keen to add to its network of fashion-focused documentaries offered on it’s streaming platform. Joining such films as “Dries” and “Manolo: The Boy Who Made Shoes for Lizards” is 7 Days Out.
Each self-contained episode of the 7 Days series centres around one week in the life of a visionary and his or her team working in the realms of fashion, food, space, sports and entertainment. The inaugural episode concerns the house of Chanel.
7 Days Out documents the final preparations Karl Lagerfeld made prior to the brand’s spring 2018 haute couture show. Rossi was given full access to Lagerfeld and his crew’s activities, allowing the director to freely shoot what happened in the week before the presentation — from the studio, to Chanelʼs haute couture ateliers and the ateliers of Chanel’s Métiers d’Art. The movie will be available on Netflix Dec. 21.
According to WWD, Rossi was given free reign to film what he wanted, with full access to Lagerfeld and his team as they worked across the studio and Chanel’s haute couture ateliers, making it one to watch for an insight into what goes on beyond the public eye.
