If there was ever a time to be a horror fanatic, now is the time. Not only is Jordan Peele’s Us in cinemas now, but anticipation is also growing for this week’s release of Pet Sematary.
Both films are receiving rave reviews from critics and Us has already broken box office records in the USA. Pet Sematary has an April 4th release date, giving us only a week between rushing to the cinema to see Us and checking back in to see the latest Stephen King adaptation.
If that’s not enough for you, last week James Wan released the first official poster for the Conjuring universe’s next hit Annabelle Comes Home. Only a few days later, the teaser trailer was released. The film is set to star Haunting of Hill House alum Mckenna Grace, who will be playing the daughter of Ed and Lorraine Warren. The plot will supposedly be based around one night when the Warren’s are out. Their daughter Judy (Grace) is left alone with Annabelle and the spirits of the cursed artefacts room. With jump scares and creepy music to boot, June looks to be the opportunity for us all to return to The Conjuring universe.
If that’s not enough either, Guillermo del Toro’s Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark trailer dropped last week and looks to be a true nightmare come to life. After dangling teasers for a few months, the official trailer is now online. I encourage all to watch but with warning, as it is not for the faint of heart.
All we need now is some sort of It: Chapter 2 teaser (unlikely to happen) to round out the month of horror domination.
