The Brow Bone Is The New Back Bone

What’s the most powerful bone in your body? Surely you wouldn’t have guessed the brow. However, in the world of modelling and high-fashion we seem to have an increasing reason to believe in the strength that it possesses…

You can’t lift weights to up your brow game, but you can have a killer aesthetician and a quality brow pencil. Gone are the days where the ultra-thin pencilled on brow was considered to be on point. Back in the ’90s when this look was all the rage, tweezer sales might have been at their peak – but following the current beauty standard, this trend has taken a back seat (thank goodness).

One of our current beauty icons today is none other than the gorgeous Cara Delevingne. Other than her amazing style and relateable personality, the Brit is unquestionably well enbrowed.

It’s easy to be conventionally beautiful.  Many of us have access to the same types of tools in make up, clothing, and the photo filters on Instagram. These are the life lines that enable us commoners to transform ourselves into our very own versions of supermodels.

With an influx in the usage of these “tools”, it now takes a lot more to stand out from the rest. No one wants common, and easy to obtain. This is, for example, why precious gems are so sought after. If everyone could afford to wear expensive diamonds every day, they would inevitably lose their appeal.

Fashion and modelling has seen predictable beauty and has finally deemed it old and tired. In the age we live in where we are always begging for more, something has to give.

Conventional beauty is so overrated. What is conventional beauty anymore? Although the standard of beauty is hard to pinpoint these days with so much diversity among the world’s population, we still have an innate understanding of what is determined beautiful, even if it is difficult to explain.

Trends are hardly ever easy to predict but the bushy brow’s skyrocketing popularity has the ability to do our heads in. With characteristics of the exact opposite of femininity by being big and bold, we may never know how it got to be linked with the ultimate definition of beauty, but we love that it has.

And perhaps that is the allure after all? We think something au natural about our appearances that emulates a youthfulness and easygoing sense is fantastic. All we know is that this trend is something we can get on board with. The less waxing and tweezing we are obligated to do the better.

But just when we thought Delevingne was the only brow-spiration we needed in our lives, Shaughnessy Brown is proving us wrong. Although she is emulating Delevingne’s look, it’s not something that she can easily help. If she was born with a killer set, she should follow in Delevinge’s footsteps and flaunt them.

[Eds Note: She wasn’t born with a killer set entirely. In an interview with Style.com Brown admits that although she leaves them relatively untouched, she did have a slight unibrow situation earlier on in her life. Other than that we can’t help but love her naturally full arches.]

Shaughnessy Brown is one of the newest faces making a name for herself with that iconic full brow look. Much like Delevingne, she appears to be a natural beauty. The boldness of her look is softened among her other delicate features, and she told Style that aside from a bit of mascara and maybe a bit of brow-gel to keep them in place she wears minimal make up.

Alongside her budding modelling career, she is engaging in the acting world as well. Much like many successful starlets these days, it pays to be a jack of all trades. But her approach and appeal is so organic and she stresses that her approach to modelling and acting is very similar.

“I took classes when I was younger, but I’ve been very skeptical about taking classes because I think that it’s more authentic when you aren’t necessarily trained in something. Even in modelling, if you go to a meeting or something and they ask you to do this or that, act this way or that, [your movement] gets so robotic and it’s not who you are. I have been trained a little bit, but I kind of want to pursue [acting] in my own sense. You have to be trained in some areas, but the more authentic it is, the more real it can be.”

We are predicting her future to be as amazing as her arches and we can already tell that we are going to fall in love with her just as easily as we did with Delevingne.
