Jeremy Scott: The People’s Designer

Jeremy Scott – creative director of Moschino and founder of his namesake label Jeremy Scott – is regarded as one of the world’s most irreverent fashion designers of our time. I mean you only have to take a look at most things Miley Cyrus wears or Katy Perry’s Super Bowl half-time costumes to agree with the logic. Or… you could also watch his upcoming documentary directed by Vlad Yudin and produced by award-winning documentary film-maker, Matt Kapp: The People’s Designer, which chronicles his journey to stardom and the untold story of his life growing up in a rural farm in Missouri,

“looking at magazines and seeing high fashion and wanting to be a part of it so badly.”

The just-dropped trailer gives us an insight to what viewers are to expect – scenes exposing his upbringing to moments of glitz, glamour and partying to celebrity interviews; however the focus is largely on his artistic vision rather than his personal life. An array of celebrities make an appearance in the film including Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Rita Ora and ASAP Rocky amongst many others. Miley Cyrus even chimes in stating,

“his clothes represent people being very expressive, forward and fully free” and her opinions seem to echo his own “I want my clothes to live to party to have fun to create a moment.”

The documentary will be released on September 18 and needless to say, I’m sure his die-hard fans are counting down!
