Two Trailers To Be Excited About This Week

As the end of the year inevitably approaches, the anticipation for 2015’s most hyped films grows to fever pitch and we are also introduced to 2016’s early blockbusters. As we’ve seen, there are many potentially great films being released this December, not to mention ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ (Episode VII) which could set all-time records at the box-office when it hits cinemas next week. However, two trailers dropped this week that also have film fans suitably excited.

‘Batman v Superman: The Dawn of Justice’ has had DC fans salivating ever since a teaser clip featured at Comic Con in July. We’ve had various snippets since then but this week, the first full trailer was released and it sent fans into meltdown as we received our first exclusive look at Wonder Woman and Doomsday, as well as intriguing footage of Clark Kent, Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor interacting.

The original release already has almost 7 million views on YouTube and the first look at Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman has many impressed. Ben Affleck is proving to look very promising as Batman, while Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor has some questioning if he was the right choice for the role, given his awkward, stammering approach to acting. While this film sets two superheroes against each other, it is also the foundation for the Justice League films to follow, as we see them face a greater threat than each other when General Zod, played by Michael Shannon, is brought back to life by Lex and reincarnated as Doomsday. The film has been a long time coming but is set for a release in March.

Another super cool trailer to be released was for writer/director Shane Black’s new film ‘The Nice Guys, which will see Hollywood heartthrob Ryan Gosling team up with Australia’s own Russell Crowe. Black holds writing credits for buddy cop classics ‘Lethal Weapon’ 1, 2 , and 3. This new film looks to be heading in the same vein as his 2005 hit ‘Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang’, starring Robert Downey Jr and Val Kilmer. ‘The Nice Guys’ looks to find the perfect balance between comedy and thriller and gives every indication it will be a load of fun.

At what first seems an odd pairing appears to play well, with Crowe playing the hard man and Gosling the comic relief. While Gosling hasn’t broached the depths of comedy too often, when he’s done it he’s done it well, most notably in ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love’ alongside Steve Carell.

We won’t get to see ‘The Nice Guys’ until June so it will be an impatient wait for a lot of fans who are hoping to see Russell Crowe really star on the big stage again. He gets his chance with what will be a hotly anticipated film.

What do you think of the two trailers? Are you excited to see the movies when they gain release?
