It’s Bad Guys Versus Even Badder Guys In Suicide Squad

You would think after all the trouble superheroes have putting super villains away, the last thing anyone would want to do is set them free. Well director and writer David Ayer does just that in Suicide Squad.

What do you do when an incredibly powerful EVIL force threatens the world? Logic dictates you call upon your heroes for help. The light fighting the darkness in an eternal struggle for supremacy, this has been the standard template for stories since pen was first brought to paper. Yet logic is thrown out the window with Suicide Squad. When evil looms its head, the US government decides to think outside the box, let’s get the evil super villains to fight for us, what could go wrong? I guess all the superheroes are just too busy to deal with something that threatens the existence of everything. Hey, we all have commitments.
Ok, the villains are not just loosed upon the world. The US government has taken precautions to ensure our deranged lunatic friends don’t misbehave, in the form of micro-bomb implants set to explode if they decide to go AWOL. Nothing can go wrong there, it’s full proof. They are the suicide squad after all.
The trailer itself opens with all our anti-heroes safely tucked inside prison in various states of madness. They live simple lives until at some point they are abducted and stuffed into sacks, something which does not sit well with Boomerang who when they let him out, celebrates his freedom by introducing armed operatives to his fists.

Then we cut to a flurry of gunfights, explosions and sarcastic quips that are the hallmark of the superhero genre. Who are they fighting? Is there a reason why helicopters are falling out of the sky? Well at least Harley Quinn gets a new handbag so there’s joy to be had that our heroes have some small victories. How do you like that Amanda Waller?
All I know for certain is that we are in for chaos this August. We all know that good and evil will always fight but what do we get when two evils fight. Ultimately I believe that the evil super villains of the suicide squad will sway audience with occasional acts of humanity which will cause us to redefine their morality. Is that a good thing though? I worry that this film might ruin the images of the evil heroes we have all come to love. Of course that is but a theory.
