Neil Patrick Harris to Star in Netflix’s ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events’

Movie star Neil Patrick Harris is rumored to feature in Netflix’s TV adaptation ‘A Series of Unfortunate Events, based on the bestselling books by Lemony Snicket. Harris is renowned for his role as the ladies’ man Barney Stinson in How I Met Your Mother but this up and coming role will have him stepping into a new milieu, as the vicious antagonist Count Olaf.

This project will mark Harris’s return to television since the success of How I Met Your Mother. He also more recently hosted the NBC’s variety show Best Time Ever which was cancelled due to poor ratings.
Lemony Snicket himself was skeptical, not for Harris’s involvement but for his books to be adapted into a TV medium. “I can’t believe it. After years of providing top-quality entertainment on demand, Netflix is risking its reputation and its success by associating itself with my dismaying and upsetting books.”
Recently it was discovered that Mark Hudis who was also scheduled to be involved has quit the project.
Netflix picked up A Series of Unfortunate events for 13 episodes to be released all together. As of yet, no release date has been announced.

A series of Unfortunate Events is but one of the highly anticipated shows coming to Netflix this year, including Fuller House and Flaked starring Will Arnett.
