David Jones Shows Endless Brands At Melbourne Fashion Festival

David Jones continues to dominate department stores in Australia, evident through their recent catwalk show at Melbourne’s Fashion Festival. David Jones showcased over 60 labels newest Autumn/Winter collections, featuring Ellery, Romance Was Born, Scanlon and Theodore, Camilla and many others.

Ambassadors Jesinta Campbell and Montana Cox led the catwalk along with international model Erin Wasson, wearing flowing gowns from Bianca Spender, Lover and Bec & Bridge. The home grown girls were more than capable of holding their own against Wasson, establishing their contribution to David Jones success.

The looks were first shown in Sydney last month, however this event marks when the clothes can be purchased right away, presenting the “shop the runway” concept. This is a more in demand approach that international labels are adopting to allow consumers to see something they like and buy it almost immediately. Of the 3000 people in the audience, viewers were able to shop the looks in stores right away and also online.

There were plenty of summery, bright coloured dresses, perfect for the never ending summer. The most notable looks were by Camilla who played up her contrasting, yet somehow managed to work prints for her flowing pieces. The Autumn/Winter feel was coming through with darker denim pieces by J-Brand, Paige Denim whilst Bassike and Jac & Jac presented classic pastel knits and basics for the colder months.

Ellery closed the show bringing out more monochrome pieces with wide bell sleeves and straight lines. Wide-leg pants also featured throughout labels, with special details by Romance Was Born, who mixed theirs with tassels and lace.
