Drake Announces Tour At Surprise SXSW Performance

The four-day long music festival is renowned for giving new and upcoming artists a chance to gain an audience, but fans are always happy to see a big name among the lineup. Prior to Drake’s appearance, the audience had been teased about a big name act, after Miley Cyrus’ surprise appearance last year.

Drake closed the concert on Saturday night, following performances by his OVO crew, which included Dvsn, Roy Woods, Majid Jordan and Partynextdoor. He also teased fans about upcoming album Views from the 6, saying,

“Views From the 6 coming in how many weeks, I hope you enjoy that shit”

Despite this, Drake avoided playing new songs, choosing instead to play ‘Know Yourself,’ ‘Legend,’ ‘Energy,’ and ‘Jumpman,’ to start things off. Then, saying he had to play something the fans could sing along to, he launched into ‘Back to Back’, before finishing on ‘Summer 16.’

Drake has been enjoying surprise appearances recently, turning up to Rhianna’s Miami concert to perform ‘Work’ with her before giving a bonus performance of ‘Jumpman.’
