Arrow Star Stephen Amell Reveals Spoilers For Season 5

The glory days of the second season of Arrow are gone but all is not lost yet. During a Facebook live chat with fans, Arrow star Stephen Amell has revealed a few interesting titbits that fans can look forward to in season 5.
Among all the reveals, perhaps the most noteworthy spoiler is Amell’s promise of a premiere that will supposedly be very violent.

“has an opportunity for us to quite literally have the most vicious, violent oner shot, which is where there is no cut, in the history of network television,” Amell.

In addition Amell himself has proclaimed that he will be doing all the action in place of his stunt double. Supposedly he has to be shirtless too.

These promises of violence and mayhem should come as no surprise considering the premiere episode is directed by James Bamford who also served as Arrow’s fight coordinator.
The new season will also feature a new arrow suit or at least some sort of modification to his current one. Considering that he just got a new suit in season 4, this change is most unexpected but not unwelcome.
Amell also revealed that a mystery character unseen for two full seasons will be making a return. I for one hope it’s Slade Wilson (Manu Bennett), I know he only had a minor appearance in season 3 but I’m choosing to ignore that. Other contenders for this spot include Oliver’s step-father Walter Steele and The Huntress and a bevy of others I am sure.
Finally it seems The Black Canary will also be playing a role somehow. Since Laurel Lance’s death in late season 4 it seemed doubtful that Katie Cassidy would return.

“The idea of Black Canary and whit means and what it embodies in Star City is something we are going to examine this year,” Amell

I suppose this is confirmation that the Black Canary will return in some shape or form. Perhaps Katie Cassidy will manage to reprise her role by existing through Oliver’s flashbacks or perhaps the Black Canary will continue to exist in a more symbolic role.

Still, Amell’s excitement for the upcoming season of arrow is hopefully a good omen. If the makers can recapture the elements that made seasons 1-2 so riveting then there is a good chance Arrow will be able to dig itself out of its slump.
Filming begins 5th of July but the promised premiere won’t be released until October 5th.
