On the Vogue cover 24-year-old Gomez is wearing Louis Vuitton, featured sitting down in a crop top. The shoot was photographed by Emma Summerton and styled by Sally Lyndly. The actress-turned-singer is also photographed wearing Marc Jacobs, Gucci and Alexander Wang throughout this issue.

Her second solo album, Revival came out in 2015 and she has acting credits to her name such as Oscar winning The Big Short and Netflix film The Fundamentals of Caring. She has performed hits such as Hands to myself and Kill ‘Em with Kindness as part of her show. Gomez has been performing the same show more than 50 times in the US and Asia.

“I think it was just a step in the right direction, and I’m so proud of it. Once I tested the waters I was like, ‘Okay, I’m building myself up and I’ve got to write this album, it’s all me.’ When it comes to music, all I wanted to do was make sure I was being authentic and being myself, and I took that chance with this album. I think it changed a lot of people’s perspective, but I’m sure it is something that still lingers . . . that questioning my ability to do what I love” said Gomez.

She fought against the record label to release Good for You instead of Same Old Love as the first single off her album Revival.

“I was so adamant that I didn’t want that to be my story. “Same Old Love” is so obvious in what it’s about, it’s a cycle of a very vicious relationship. Even though that is such a huge narrative of my life, I felt confident with “Good For You” [being the first single], and then it [“Same Old Love”] could be like . . . ‘I’m pissed and this is exhausting.’ I think any girl would feel that” said Gomez.

Selena Gomez was known for a long time as the girlfriend of Justin Bieber, and in the September Issue of Vogue she speaks about standing on her own for her own accomplishments.

“For a while my private life was the most talked about thing. Nobody really knows everything and they can only assume. You want to do what you love, but all this other stuff overshadows it, so it makes it a little harder for people to take me seriously. I figured it’s just temporary. I feel like that fortunately, and unfortunately, it’s where my life is at the moment and I have to accept it” said Gomez.

Selena Gomez speaks about how now she is looking for a different sort of man, more down to earth. However, she believes her celebrity status is blocking her chances and attracting the wrong kind of man.

“The guys that do have the confidence to hit on me are not necessarily my type, but they think they are because I’m a pop star, I sing songs, do movies, I like to feel sexy and confident on stage. I’d be so stoked with a writer or producer or actor who is low-key, but those kind of guys are terrified of me! I think people would think it’s kind of dumb (to date me). Nobody would want to throw themselves into that situation where it was so heightened publicly, like, why would they?” said Gomez.

Gomez is becoming known more and more for her music, acting abilities and as the girl with the most followers on Instagram. Her reputation is becoming untangled from simply being the girl who used to date Justin Bieber. She is proving she has talent and clearly has fans in Australia, and she has worked hard to garner this new reputation.
