News that both Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid are collaborating with top designers comes just a week apart. Unfortunately, for all the Gigi-Zayn lovers, their collaborations are separate, with Malik tackling footwear and Hadid clothing and accessories.
It may seem an odd move: First a boy-band member, then a breakaway Pop Star, now a footwear designer. However, Malik has always had an individual, self-described “scruffy” style, which has only become more defined since leaving One Direction. Malik the news of his fledging designer status by posting one of his designs on Instagram.
The footwear collection is a collaboration with Giuseppe Zanotti, the well-known Italian designer, which marks Malik’s second foray into fashion.
His first was an involvement with the Great Upscale Merch Revival that comprised of shirts and graphic art.
Malik mentioned to GQ Magazine that he is receiving “a lot of offers… with different things to do with fashion,” and that he is keen to pursue this avenue as music and image are linked.
It seems that his romance with Gigi Hadid is rubbing off on the 23-year-old, with the model revealing a capsule of her own on the 15th of August.
Collaborating with Tommy Hilfiger, hers is an expansive collection including clothes, footwear, accessories and fragrance. Uniting the range is a nautical theme with stripes, caps and a navy blue and white colour palette. The pieces can be bought from September 9.
