Grindr Just Released Its First Fashion Collection

The worlds largest gay social network app, Grindr, has just released their first ever fashion collection and it’s sporty, sexy and definitely eye-catching.

Generally, when you think of Grindr you just think of it as a dating sight for gay men, but did you know that they also provide sexual health advice, disseminate information about PrEP and even sell a few Madonna and Nicki Minaj tickets?

Well, on top of all of this, they have now brought out their very own fashion collection in collaboration with printing design studio, Print All Over Me (PAOM). The 29-piece collection is titled “The Varsity Collection” and aims to increase awareness and raise funds for LGBTQ athletes all around the world.

All of the funds raised from the sale of items will go to Athlete Ally, which is a charity that works towards the end of homophobia and transphobia in sports. This is a perfectly timed campaign with the 2016 Rio Olympics currently happening.

“As we keep evolving, we are looking for ways to combine things people enjoy with ways to help the community globally. The collection feels sexy, cheeky, fun, but in the end, all profits are going to an amazing group that helps athletes with the issues the gay community faces all around the world. It felt like a different way to approach sports, and every partner in the mix has been amazing,” stated Landis Smithers, creative director of Grindr.

The collection features tight-fitting sportswear, in bright primary colours covered in queer pop-culture references and Ancient greek motifs. You can get your hands on nearly anything sporty from windbreakers to jockstraps. The collection is on sale now, via their Grindr store.

This isn’t the first time that Grindr has taken a step into the fashion industry either. Earlier this year, they used their platform to exclusively stream the J.W.Anderson FW16 runway show before it was released to the rest of the world. It will be interesting to see what their next leap into the fashion industry will be.
