During the BIGSOUND festival conference speech, UNIFIED founder and CEO Jaddan Comerford unveiled The UNIFIED Grant, comprising of five $5000 grants to assist passionate young music creatives get a leg up in such a competitive industry. The grant is an investment in the future generation of the creative industry and will give young people the chance to follow their creative dreams behind the scenes in the music industry.

With a lack of government funding towards the arts, particularly music, and graduates of tertiary courses ranging from media, arts and music studies struggling to get a head up in the industry, this new initiative is groundbreaking for those who are passionate about the industry and want to make a name for themselves. Talking at the conference, Comerford says:

“As someone who started a business with nothing, at a young age and on my own, I want to encourage more people to follow their dreams. For me early on this grant would have helped me do CD pressings, or fly to SXSW”

Whether you specialise in photography, A&R, journalism, producing, graphic design, web and app development or any other discipline as long as you have a passion about music, this grant could help you in pursuing your vision.

With applications now open, applicants will need to fill out a questionnaire and compose a 500-w0rd statement explaining why they deserve the grant and what they’ll spend the money on in regards to pursuing your dream. An announcement of successful applicants will be made on November 21 2016.
