Cary Grant, classical Hollywood’s go to man, was one of the leading figures of the golden age. His style and talent saw him rocket to fame, leaving a memorable mark which set the standard for all men to follow.

With his distinctive yet not quite placeable Mid-Atlantic accent, he was noted as perhaps the foremost exemplar of the debonair leading man: handsome, virile, charismatic, and charming. Named the second Greatest Male Star of All Time by the American Film Institute, Grant was most famous for his work in North By Northwest, Notorious, Charade and His Girl Friday.

Over the course of his career, Grant went on to star in films such as Bringing Up Baby and Holiday, the adventures; Gunga Din and Only Angels Have Wings, His Girl Friday with Rosalind Russell, The Philadelphia Story with Audrey Hepburn and James Stewart, and Suspicion, the first of four films with Alfred Hitchcock.

Grant remained one of Hollywood’s top box office attractions for almost thirty years, earning himself 2 Academy Award nominations as well as a special Academy Award for Lifetime Achievement in 1970.

In 2001, a statue of Grant was erected in his city of birth, Bristol. To this day he is remembered as one of the finest actors from the classical Hollywood era.
