While the insane shopping frenzy of Christmas may be over and the New Year upon us, it is never to late or too early to start thinking about all those birthdays, weddings, anniversaries and other special events on the horizon. In fact, is your New Year’s resolution – a wandering aimlessly around a shopping centre with a hoard of other people all in search of the perfect gift with the clock ticking down to Christmas day induced panic – to never leave gift shopping to the last minute again? Are you already freaking out at the thought of searching for the perfect gift to bring when meeting your significant other’s parents for the first time and refusing to go down the cliched route of wine and flowers? Or maybe you have an upcoming work cocktail party and need to bring a gift? Don’t stress, Louis Vuitton has the answer to all your gift giving needs by launching a new line of luxury (read a bit over-the-top) little gifts.

This line is part of Louis Vuitton’s “Art of Gifting” campaign and consists of different items in three domains: the Joy of Writing, the Joy of Decorating, and the Joy of Gaming. The writing range includes fine pens, graphite pencils, notepads, stylised bookmarks, monogrammed pencil holders and leather encased ink pads. The decorating line includes necessities like mirrors, leather boxes with the flower monogram, Plexiglas or leather picture frames embossed with the fashion House’s initials and porcelain desk organisers. Last but not least, the gaming collection includes dice sets, card games, coloured leather discs, retro spinning tops and yo-yos. Of course, practically everything in this collection comes complete with the embossed world famous LV initials.

The collection also wouldn’t be Louis Vuitton if the level of craftsmanship wasn’t accompanied by some odd touches. Among the gifts the more traditional gifts, you can also find a patchwork leather teddy bear named “Louis”, an almost $900 desk blotter and the always useful in this day and age, monogrammed mouse pads. These gifts do come moderately priced in comparison to the brand’s other luxury goods and cost somewhere in the region of $94 USD to $887 USD. According to WWD, the collection is also a nod to the fashion house’s history, as the brand’s first foray into the gifting industry took place in the 1920s when they launched a catalogue series called “Le Cadeau ou la Bonne Manière” which roughly translates to “The Gift or the Art of Good Manners”. The Art of Gifting launches this month, so be sure to be on the lookout for that perfect gift.
