Will Luc Besson’s Valerian Deliver?

Let’s face it, Luc Besson is a director we either love or hate, especially when it comes to delivering a substantial plot line.

But there’s one thing Besson masters above all directors. His ability to capture our attention through eye catching visuals and effects. Who can forget Luc Besson’s first big science fiction hit, The Fifth Element. So when he announced his next sci-fi endeavour a few months ago, it’s a cause for excitement.

To those who love sci-fi and adventure, Valerian and the City of A Thousand Planets is going to be your next favourite movie of all time. Based on Pierre Christin’s popular 1960’s graphic novel series, ‘Valérian and Laureline’, director Luc Besson gives us an exciting sneak peak of what’s to come in his science fiction film. Enter the world of ‘Alpha’, a colourful and dazzling metropolis where thousands of alien inhabitants have coexisted peacefully for centuries. After years of peace, an unseen threat attempts to break the city and its foundations from within.

Starring actor Dane DeHaan (Kill Your Darlings, In Treatment), as Valérian and Cara Delevingne, (Suicide Squad), as Laureline, the teaser trailer prepares us with an action packed adventure in a city we can only dream of. A sneaky shot of Rihanna seals the deal for us! Luc Besson promises the upcoming sci-fi film will live up to the storyline and characters of the original series… we hope!

Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets will hit the theatres on July 21, 2017. Mr. Besson, you better not disappoint us!
