5 New Tracks You Need In Your Life This Week

There is so much new music constantly being thrown out there on the web, it can all be a bit overwhelming sometimes. Don’t worry though, here at FIB we understand, which is why we find all the best bits just for you. Without further ado, here are our favourite new singles this week.

The Drums – Head of The Horse

The origins of The Drums date back to two 11-year-olds meeting at Bible Camp. Having released 3 albums to date, “Head of the Hose” is the third single released from their upcoming album Abysmal Thoughts, which will be released on June 16. Pierce shed light on the eerily light-sounding song, describing his strictly religious, anti-LGBTQ parents and explaining, “I find that the past still dominates a lot of my daily experiences- sometimes to the point of feeling paralysed. The goal is to heal, and I think I am- but at a much slower than I am comfortable with.”

Amandla Stenberg – Let My Baby Stay

If the name Amandla Stenberg is sounding familiar to you, you may remember her from such roles as Rue in The Hunger Games or her 2017 movie Everything, Everything, or possibly even her incredible articulation of cultural appropriation that caught everyone’s attention in 2015 in the video “Don’t Cash Crop On My Cornrows.” What you may not know about the 18-year-old is that she is also a talented musician as both a singer and violinist, which has seen her releasing E.P.’s with her group Honeywater as well as recently working with Dev Hynes of Blood Orange. “Let My Baby Stay” is her dreamy interpretation of a Mac de Marco song and has been released with an accompanying video.

Kali Uchis ft. Jorja Smith – Tyrant

Kali Uchis is the Colombian-American singer that has been catching the eye of some of your favourite rappers, including A$AP Rocky, Tyler the Creator and Snoop Dogg, who has co-signed the 22-year-old. She created her entire debut E.P. in just 48 hours and has since released Por Vida in 2015, with “Tyrant” being what is expected to be the first single released from her debut album that is expected at the end of this year. She also enlisted Jorja Smith, the British singer with soulful pipes that brought her attention from Drake, who had her open for him on the U.K. segment of his tour. She released her popular single “Blue Lights” last year and has since released her E.P. Project 11.

Dave – 100 M’s

In 2016 Dave released his Six Paths E.P. and a Drake remix that cumulatively saw him noticed as a popular up and coming artist. Since then he has released the single “Revenge” and worked with J-HUS on his track “Samantha”. Dave also released the new song along with a video that follows the daily working grind and includes a cameo from Stan Smith. The U.K. rapper, Dave is definitely one to watch in 2017.

Alt-J – Adeline

Leeds native indie-rockers Alt-J are returning with a new album Relaxer due to be released in just under a week, the follow-up to their 2014 record This Is All Yours. The new single shows the group staying true to their mixture of electro-pop folk form, with a pressing and building song that isn’t short of stunning backing vocals and harmonies. The four-piece recently announced they will be touring Australia and New Zealand exclusively throughout December, countries where they have become sure live favourites.
