All Things Americana in Moschino’s Vegas-Themed Collection

From feathers to flames, Moschino’s Resort 2018 Collection was a standout. The Vegas-themed collection was full of bedazzled showgirls and retro studded cowboys showcasing the best of the Americana.

Jeremy Scott, the brains behind Moschino, told W Magazine that he was inspired by “the road trip between L.A. and Las Vegas,”

“All that Americana, so rich and gorgeous—pin-up girls, hot rods, Route 66, that Vegas vibe, neon signs” he continued. “I miss that optimism that’s part of America, especially right now with so much negativity from the top.  I thought it was important for us to remember why we love America.”

The collection featured hot rod flames, snakeskin, prairie dresses and denim and we couldn’t forget about the use of Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants and Betty Boop in the details.  The collection emphasised optimism and the American spirit as muscle hugging trousers were paired with studded leather jackets and cowboy boots laced with flames.

The runway was graced with names such as Stella Maxwell, Miranda Kerr, Jordan Barrett, Hailey Baldwin, Slick Woods and Joan Smalls.  However, the runway wasn’t the only place for VIPs.  Kate Beckinsale, Tracee Ellis Ross, Joe Jonas, Serayah McNeill, Dita Von Teese, Vanessa Hudgens, Liberty Ross, Olivia Holt, Fergie and Angela Sarafyan all made head-turning appearances and claimed the show was outstanding.

“It was like walking into a fantasy,” said Angela Sarafyan.  “It felt like the beginning of a new era.  It’s about seizing the moment and living in the now.  It was like going on a ride in Disneyland.”

Overall, the show proved tassels and studded leotards are the trends to watch.  Jeremy Scott created a vast collection showcasing the best of Americana, taking the audience on that iconic journey down Route 66.
