Sweet Bingo Bronson! Abbi Jacobsen To Lead Next Matt Groening Animation ‘Disenchanted’

If you’ve been out parkouring all morning and haven’t heard what at least one FIB writer is hailing as “the best news of 2017”, Abbi Jacobsen (of Broad City) is set to lead a new medieval adult fantasy animation ‘Disenchanted’ by The Simpsons all-star Matt Groening.

Reportedly set to hit Netflix in 2018, the comedy animation Disenchantment will be overseen by Rough Draft Studies – aka the geniuses behind Futurama.

Swapping bongs for beers, Abbi will be voicing the young, “hard-drinking” protagonist ‘Bean’. The comedy will revolve around Bean and her pair of male companions: Nat Faxon as a “feisty elf” aptly named ‘Elfo’, and Eric Andre taking on the role of ‘Luci’, her personal demon. Matt Groening described the show in a press release,

“Ultimately, Disenchantment will be about life and death, love and sex, and how to keep laughing in a world full of suffering and idiots, despite what the elders and and wizards and other jerks tell you.”

Sounds like it’s ripped straight out millennial life, right?

And like this news couldn’t get any better – seriously, somebody pinch us – joining the ranks of the voice cast are John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, David Herman, Matt Berry, Jeny Batten, Lucy Montgomery…

AND MOTHERLICKEN’ NOEL FIELDING AND RICH FULCHER! (from everyone’s favourite whacked out Brit com, The Mighty Boosh)

With an undoubtedly seasoned and hilarious voice cast, a renowned animation studio and the creator of animation tycoon The Simpsons Matt Groening at the helm, Disenchantment is pegged (Broad City pun unintended) to be the next Netflix adult animation hit. As for the character of ‘Bean’, we all know how Abbi gets after a coupla’ bevvies…
