Local Sydney collectives Stayfly, Deeper Than House, Honey, Coven Presents and Yeah The Girls have banded together to create one helluva event celebrating the reckoning force that is women in music.

Setting their phasers to stun at Miss Peaches this Sunday, the Sydney art and music crews have gone all out in an effort to recognise and empower their fellow female creatives. The inclusive event will offer live music and art, market stalls and an interactive live panel.

The interactive panel will provide an opportunity for like-minded individuals to network, and discuss issues within the realm of industry challenges and strategies to overcome the gender pay gap.

Newtown’s self-proclaimed “shittest band” SCABZ are leading the lineup alongside retro pop queen Iluka, whilst live art will be under the reins of Lotte Smith and Sophieaye. Check out the chockers line-up of artists, entertainers and live panel attendees on the event page.

All proceeds raised from the event will be donated to the The Girls Refuge – a local home that provides supportive care for women affected by homelessness, mental health issues, domestic violence, trauma and drug/alcohol misuse.

A poignant social media quote from the StayFly lasses reminds us we need to cultivate female talent and provide all-inclusive support for our sisters from all cultures and walks of life,

“It’s so important for women to collaborate on events like Women in Music Empowerment Day 2017 because when women uplift each other, it’s a powerful force.”

With General Admission tix at only $20 a pop, you’d be daft not to swing by and check out what these talented local ladies have to offer. If you’re out of town this weekend and would still like to show your support head over to The Girls Refuge to make a donation
