If You Thought ‘Stranger Things’ Couldn’t Get Any Cooler, You Were Mistaken

The hit Netflix show has received a retro teaser trailer and a mobile video game ahead of its October 27 release. If that doesn’t make it the coolest show around right now, I don’t know what will.

The new teaser trailer for Stranger Things, titled ‘1984’, is shown in the style of an old photo reel. It’s a conspiracy theory-style teaser, hinting that various real-life events that occurred in 1984 are linked to the Upside Down. Some of these include the boycott at the Los Angeles Olympics, New Coke, and the 1984 solar eclipse. Since the show is pretty bizarre to begin with, it’s entirely possible that Coke is to blame for everything that happens in Hawkins.

If that wasn’t enough, Stranger Things: The Game was also released for iOS and Android devices. The style is retro, like an old SNES game, and allows you to run around Hawkins as a variety of different characters. The game is loosely based on the events of the show, and it makes us wonder if it will receive updates as seasons go by. Based on the trailer, it involves both combat and puzzle elements, so there’s something for everyone. Also it’s free, so grab it at your local app store if you want a nostalgia hit.

The series creators, The Duffer Brothers, have also recently come out and said that a fifth season of the show is a possibility. Honestly, hold your horses, the second season isn’t even out yet. Then again, we all enjoy the comfort of knowing a great show will be around for another three years.

The second season of Stranger Things drops on Netflix on October 27th. Check out the teaser trailer above, and if you’ve played the game already, tell us what you think!
