It wasn’t long until the trailer spread across social media, with roughly 147, 000 shares from the official Star Wars Facebook page and over 3 million views – with these numbers expected to grow.

Prior to the trailer’s release, director Rian Johnson treated fans to another surprise, by tweeting an 11 second preview of the trailer.

As for the trailer it seems to have created more questions than it has answered. It’s great to see some old faces surface again and for Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) to actually have some dialogue. Besides Luke’s return, we also see Rey (Daisy Ridley), who his still conflicted with where she fits in the scheme of things, Finn (John Boyega) who looks like he has had a steady recovery since the last time we saw him and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), who is sporting some fresh battle scars. The trailer also gave us our first look at the new Ahch-To natives and guaranteed fan-favourites the Porgs, giving the saga more depth by adding a whole new world of intergalactic fauna.
