6 Heroes of the Screen To Look Out For In 2018

It’s no secret that 2018 is going to be a huge year for TV and film, but what’s on the FIB radar?

Black Lightning

Starring Cress Williams as the man himself, Black Lightning is yet another addition to the DC TV universe. It will be overseen by Greg Berlanti, just like Arrow, The Flash, etc. are, but the writers are completely different. This opens up a world of possibility in terms of diversity and storytelling. Not only that, but Black Lightning doesn’t exist in the same universe as the others, so it’s almost like a clean slate while still bringing the same DC action everyone knows and loves. Black Lightning will premiere on January 16th, 2018.

Avengers: Infinity War

The trailer for the latest Marvel flick just dropped, and it looks like it’s going to be the the most epic thing the franchise has ever done. Not only that, but it broke the record for the most views on a trailer ever – a ridiculous 230 million views in just the first day. If that’s not enough, this film will also feature the casts of Guardians of the Galaxy, Spiderman: Homecoming and the upcoming release Black Panther, making it the biggest cast that Marvel has ever seen. It could either go really well, or really terribly, so we’ll wait and see. Look out for it on May 4th, 2018.

Lost In Space

Any TV show set in space is bound to get our attention. This sci-fi show will be coming to Netflix in 2018, and it’s a reboot of the 1965 show of the same name. It’s about a family whose space expedition runs off course, and they’re forced to start a brand new colonisation on an alien planet lightyears away from Earth. Apparently the original was one of the most expensive shows at that time, so no doubt the special effects this time around will be amazing. Check it out on Netflix in May, 2018.

Solo: A Star Wars Story

Now, we can’t have this list without mentioning 2018’s Star Wars film. Like Rogue One, Solo is a standalone film that isn’t connected to any trilogy, and it follows the story of Han Solo (Alden Ehrenreich) in his glory days. The film will also feature fan favourites like Chewbacca and Lando Calrissian (played by Donald Glover, no less), and Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke is also among the cast. If it’s anything like any other Star Wars film ever made, we know it’ll be amazing. Solo will be hitting theatres on May 25th, 2016.

Titans

Titans is yet another Berlanti project that is hitting our screens in 2018. The group of young superheroes, known as the Titans, are legendary in DC comics history. I mean, just about everyone watched the Teen Titans cartoon as a kid. Not only that, but we’ll finally be getting a live action version of Dick Grayson (aka Robin) played by Australian actor Brenton Thwaites. While there’s no release date as of yet, the series will be exclusive to DC’s unnamed streaming platform.

The Incredibles 2

Look, there are a lot more ‘serious’ films that could take this spot, but who would we be if we didn’t mention the sequel to a classic? The Incredibles 2 is something we’ve waited 14 whole years to see, and apparently the sequel picks up immediately where the previous film left off. The original is pretty much the best Pixar film ever made, so I’m really hoping Disney doesn’t screw this one up. Kids these days… they just won’t understand the hype. The film is set to be released June 15th, 2018.
