The HBO miniseries has definitely made a splash, now being upgraded to a full-blown series.

Starring big names like Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley, Zoe Kravitz and Laura Dern, Big Little Lies was set to be a smash from the very beginning. The series is based on the (Australian!) novel of the same name by Liane Moriarty, about the lives of five mothers who live in Monterey, California.

It deals with some pretty heavy topics, not unlike most HBO shows, but if you’ve seen the ending of Season 1, you know it’s pretty satisfying. Nicole and Reese are already set to reprise their roles as Celeste and Madeline respectively, and we’ll get to see the aftermath of Bonnie (Kravitz) being the one to push Perry to his death. Honestly, I’m just here for the kids because they’re cute as hell.

“This is inspired by the overwhelming response by audiences around the world, conceived once again by Liane Moriarty, realised by David Kelley and now in the hands of visionary filmmaker Andrea Arnold.” – Nicole Kidman

It’s no surprise it’s been upgraded to a proper series, since the show racked up 16 Emmy nominations and 8 wins in 2017. However, we probably won’t be seeing the second season until 2019.
