Kate Upton and Justin Verlander Living La Dolce Vita

Photos have been released today of the marriage between sports illustrated model-actress Kate Upton and her husband Houston Astros’ Pitcher Justin Verlander. The couple met in early 2014 and have tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Tuscany on November 4th, 2017. Italy has a sentimental attachment to the power couple; the country being one of the first places they vacationed together at the start of their budding romance. If these images are anything to go by, they are certainly living the sweet life or as the Italians say “La Dolce Vita”.

The couple’s engagement was made public at last year’s Met Gala and the wedding was kept under wraps until now. No doubt due to Justin’s preoccupation with the World Series in which Houston Astros beat out the Los Angeles Dodgers for a historic win just days before the ceremony took place. According to Vogue, the wedding was disrupted by the event and had to be pushed back. But I’m sure Upton – who is no stranger to hard work- could forgive this pinnacle moment in Verlander’s career.

In the biggest red wedding since that notorious Game of Thrones episode, Kate and Justin’s dress rehearsal requested guests to sport red. If you are going to wear red there is only one designer go-to and Kate knows that all too well – donning a Valentino gown amongst a sea of red-clothed guests. For the wedding Kate and Justin opted for a more traditional colour palate. Continuing the Valentino theme, her ceremonial dress combined delicate beading and lace in honour of the Italian designers’ heritage and the classic scenery of the venue, before switching up to a sexy beaded number for the reception. Upton told Vogue:

“I had such a great time creating the fashion story for my wedding weekend”. “The design process was extremely collaborative (with Valentino), so I was able to really include my personal style and create my dream dress”.

No dress is complete without accessories, according to People.com Justin had designed the engagement ring with jeweller Anita Ko at the start of the 2016 baseball season. Justin, also looked sharp in a bespoke black tuxedo from Cicchini Custom Clothier, that according to Vogue included a secret message for the bride stitched into the lining.

2017 has been a win for this genetically blessed duo, taking on Titles from World Series to Bride and Groom, as they set off on their honey moon to Puglia you can take in all the inspiration from their beautiful day, here.

Social media has been quick to comment on the sheerness of Kate’s dress. Kate is certainly one known for her killer curves and wearing less throughout her career, so why should her wedding day not reflect this confidence in her own skin? Yes, weddings are traditional – but this dress is far from a gratuitous display of flesh, in my opinion!
