This year’s show, Superposition: Equilibrium & Engagement, marks the 45th anniversary of the Biennale platform and forms a ‘microcosm of the history of Earth, the human race and a condensed version of the history of Sydney,’ according to Artistic Director Mami Kataoka.

The event will take place across seven Sydney locations and offer a panoramic view of the world’s different cultures and how their conflicting conceptions of human history, nature and cosmic order co-exist in a state of equilibrium.

Creations include: UK-based duo Semiconductor’s five-channel video work that explores our experience of the material world through the lens of science and technology, and Chinese artist Chen Shaoxiong’s four channel video projection, that features familiar landscapes from everyday life.

For a free hit of culture and an insight into different faiths, beliefs and political systems through art catch the 21st Biennale from 16 March-11 June.
