How to Listen to The Arctic Monkeys New Album ‘Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino’

Arctic Monkeys are back from the dead and they’re here to fill you eardrums with some spacey, smooth and sultry tunes. There is a knack to listening to the album though, so FIB’s gonna sort you out with step-by-step instructions of how to get the most out of Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino.

1. Leave AM behind

This album is not AM. It’s got very little to do with AM. If they were looking to make a sequel, they would’ve named it PM. There’s not a catchy sing-a-long chorus in sight. There’s no guitar riffs that’ll stay on loop in your head for weeks. It’s a slow burn. Which leads me to my next point…

2. Commit

Sit down and listen to this album the entire way through. Don’t go clicking through listening for the singles. There are none. The closest you’ll get is ‘Four Out of Five’ and even it fits better as a song among many than a single. Like Solange’s A Seat at the Table, this album is designed to be listened to in its entirety. You’ve gotta stick around for it to hit you where it wants to hit you. Listen to it the whole way once, then listen to it again. You’ll see what I mean.

3. Accept That Alex Turner Looks Like Keanu Reeves Now

I don’t know why. We just need to accept that this is the way things are now. I don’t know if it was a conscious decision or if he just doesn’t realise it yet. There is no explanation. Sometimes things are just the way they are.

4. Watch the “Four Out Of Five” Video

It’s quality and if you didn’t believe me when I say that Alex Turner looks like Keanu Reeves, you will once you watch this video.

5. Picture Alex Turner Singing In A Mexican Restaurant on the Moon That Has a Hotel and a Casino

Thanks reddit user /jt663 for this one. Picture Alex Turner in a Mexican restaurant on the moon that’s got a hotel and a casino and you’ll experience the exact vibe of the album. Close your eyes, picture that Mexican restaurant, and you’ll be in Arctic Monkeys galactic heaven.
